My two cents is telling me that most people don't blow their brains out with one hand while holding a lit cigarette in the other hand. The thing is not even half-way burned down. If I'm going to end it, I'm definitely indulging in my worst habits one hundred percent before squeezing that trigger. I also don't think she'd still be holding the gun.

Suicide...I like what everyone has hinted at. However, since it looks like a suicide, the most likely thing is suicide...walking and talking like a duck and all.

I believe she was writing a suicide note with her right hand (gun in right hand); while smoking and drinking from her left hand (cigarette in left hand).

She put the pen down with her palm facing down and the pen cap pointing in the direction that would indicate a right-hand position. The drink and ash tray are on her left side while she writes, I do not think she would reach across her body to tap one of the many cigarettes in the ash tray and that position would also indicate the desire to sip her drink from same side and not stop writing.

Once she was done writing, I believe she turned around, possibly to look at the bouquet of flowers (suicidal individuals are often noted as being very deliberate as they prepare themselves for their death, i.e. folding their clothes at the shore before going in the water, leaving a note to family and friends, saying "goodbye" as they leave the party for the last time) which placed her in the position to create the wound and blood splatter.

Murder. Wound on right side of head but splattered on wall suggests she was facing outward at the time. Cigarette in hand (as everyone else has said). Stool under table as she fell forward and to her left. One shoe (where’s the other?) would have still been on her foot if suicide. Also being in front suggests facing outward. Everything laid calmly and neatly on the table beforehand - and cigarette in hand - suggests she knew and was comfortable with the other person.

Gun in right hand means nothing - a lot of lefties are functionally right handed, especially with gross motor coordinated movements such as shooting.

I know this is old but I sure miss Mystery Nibbles emails!!!!

The pen, drink, and ash tray are on the left side of the note indicating she was left handed but the gun is in the right hand. She also smokes with the left hand. The glasses are facing towards the note, indicating she was facing the direction when shot. The stool fell to the right.

I think she was sitting on the stool facing towards the note when shot from the right side and the gun placed in the wrong hand.

If she was facing the note at the time she was shot, the murderer would have had to go around her from behind and shoot her. Unless she was caught off guard/unconscious the cigarette would have likely been dropped in her panic or struggle with her killer and the blood would likely be on the opposite wall.

Murder! The blood splatter doesn't make sense based on her body position and the gun is in her left hand when she appears to be right handed!

Murder. The gun is in the wrong hand for where the blood splatter is located.

Also, she's left handed and the gun is in the right hand.

Murder! One would not commit suicide while smoking.

A good thought! Definitely one of many potential clues.

Murder! The positioning of the body/stool, and blood splatter suggests she was facing the wall, so was shot in the back of the head. If it was suicide, she would've had to be facing away from the wall.

Agreed. I think this is a big one.

Murder. She probably wouldn’t kill herself with a cigarette still in hand/smoking
